Despite members attending the Norah Head Lighthouse, Old Sydney Town and
Luskintyre special event stations for the Lighthouse weekend and the RD Contest
yesterday saw a reasonable attendance of members to the club. The canteen was
once again a very popular place to be, with a line up to order the very tasty food
provided by Gloria
Although attendance was down, the meat tray was well supported and Les was
bombarded with requests for tickets, some even returning for a few more. The
Winning ticket was drawn by Michael VK2ZEN who did not have a vested interest
(no tickets) and the lucky winner was Alex VK2ZM who I might add went home
early to go to the Norah Head site. His parting words were "When (not if) I win just
let me know and I will pick it up. The hide of some people. Well done Alex.
Members are advised that both the nominated Life and Honorary members
proposed prior to the last AGM will be voted on at the 13th September General
Meeting.
They are Life membership for VK2RD, VK2EO and Honorary Life membership
VK2ZTV.
We again remind members of Westlakes Battery Drive keep searching for any
expired Lead Acid Batteries, bring them to the club for recycling. Michael was
pleasantly surprised when he arrived to find about 300 kilo's of batteries waiting for
him Keep them coming.
Several members have responded to our call for help in the magazine, HAVE YOU?
There is no restriction on the number of tickets that you can hold. Send in your
requirements along with your contribution and we will ensure that you are in the
draw following the September General meeting.
Thursday evening saw several budding astronauts participating in "A Walk in
Space" which was the SSTV theme for the week. Next week's SSTV may be an
evening for the voyeurs among us. The theme suggested is Pinups. Why not put on
your dark glasses and join us.
Remember, 7:30 Tuesday for the RTTY followed by SSTV and or Thursday nights
146.775 MHz. Even if you only like to sit and watch.
Yesterday's EZB net was conducted by Dave VK2RD using his own call as
VK2ATZ was operating portable at Norah Head Light house as part of the
Lighthouse / Lightship event.10 stations called in. This net goes to air each Saturday
morning at 08.00 on 146.775MHz mainly to make members aware of possible club
activities during the coming week. Why not join us, as all are welcome.
Speaking of the Lighthouse event. Alan VK2JED and Frank VK2FJL spent the
later part of Friday stringing the antenna and setting up the station. By all reports
both worked well although after the second or third time climbing to the top of the
tower both Allan and Frank needed oxygen. Thanks go to Lighthouse attendants
Ron and Terry who noticed their plight and revived them with a nice hot cup of
coffee. By all reports the day went well with good propagation and plenty of
contacts.
For those who can remember, about two years ago the Hunter Radio group held

material which has been re-recorded. The details of the education hour are:-
